The Lynchburg Area Long Range Transportation Plan 2025 was adopted in August of 2001. Like other Long Range Transportation Plans (LRTP)'s the 2025 plan set forth a vision, goals and priorities for improving the region's transportation network.
The general goals of the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) are to assess the performance of the transportation system over a 20+ year horizon, and to identify the projects that best address the needs of the system based on expected population, housing and employment growth, while also accounting for financial forecasts during the plan’s update process. The LRTP provides both a financially constrained plan, which takes into account funding limitations, and an unconstrained plan, which contains a wide-range of potential transportation improvements should additional funding sources become available.
